The Moods of London: through the eyes of the Diarists

Barbican Library Silk Street , London , EC2Y 8DS 1st May 201912:30 pm - 1:30 pm

From the earliest times diarists recorded their thoughts about London. We explore the moods they uncovered through readings and pictures. We will re-live seminal moments in London’s history and discover Wonderful London, Grimy London, Cosmopolitan London and Lonely London. We will uncover eye-witness accounts of a gruesome past, but also testimony that places the Capital on a pedestal. Our diarists range from Kings to Commoners and from the most celebrated chroniclers to the hitherto unknown.
