Welcome to the new Cityread London website
Countless hours and cups of coffee later, we’ve finally managed to get it ready and launched. It’s been a bit of a wild ride but we hope the result will delight and satisfy.
So what’s new?
In addition to the content available on the previous website, we’ve created more space to show you all the brilliant and exciting events that have taken place in the past and are just about to take place around this year’s political thriller Ten Days by Gillian Slovo. This means more information, more pictures, more videos, more comments and interaction – and a whole new sense of community.
Thanks to our new partners at Audible, we will be able to provide you with an audio version of Ten Days to listen to and complement your reading with a digital storytelling experience. Additional extracts will also be used in ‘evidence booths’ that will be circulating London’s libraries and allow you to – quite literally – immerse yourself in the book. In conjunction with Gillian’s borough visits, the “Stories from the Streets” installation in The Gallery at Foyles, Charing Cross Road, and the many historical talks, book club discussions, workshops and other events organised by London’s libraries, there will be numerous opportunities for you to tell us what you think and engage with your local community.
So please feel free to send us any image, comment or video in response to a Cityread event you’re attending and we will add it to the soon-to-be-launched community page. One of the most exciting new features of this website, this interactive hub will bring all of your contributions together in one place to allow you to truly play a part in this year’s Cityread discussion and engage with participants across the entire city.
If you haven’t already, make sure to follow us on social media or subscribe to our newsletter to avoid missing any exciting news or events.
